Facebook recently became the #1 social media website over myspace. This growth is because of their focus into expanding into a world wide entity, providing content in different languages and targeting areas of the market they currently do not control and are not currently the social media choice in.

Nice Blog Jed,

I caught this on my newsfeed.

In the past week I've got two spam wall posts where the user's profile/computer had them post comments on all of friends' walls. Fortunately I haven't been foolish enough to click the links in the post, but it really has to be mortifyingly embarrassing for the user who gets it, I know I would feel that way if it happened to me. If it keeps on happening, I think a lot of people will deactivate their accounts or in very least their walls.

Who will be the new leadership team at facebook? Will they keep it an un-myspace? I think if viruses and out-of-control applications are not reigned in I can see a mass exodus of 'quality' individuals from Facebook, even while the amount of users might be growing, like myspace.

I get such a laugh out of the banner ads that facebook puts out. I actually have a friend who started taking screen shots of all the absurd ones that he gets and made a facebook photo album out of them as a joke!
Banner ads, Myspace, they're all dying outlets.. the new is blogs and twitter, and using a main page to manage them all. I think Facebook has done a great job of changing with the times, particularly responding to the new Twitter craze with a new Facebook layout and right at the top of the page of your profile is a "What are you doing?" teaser with a box to update your status. I know I've started updating my status more often..
